Apple allows rebrand Twitter app to X in the App Store
The Twitter app on iOS has been officially renamed to X. The social media platform previously wanted to make that name change, but that was not possible on iOS. Apple normally doesn’t allow single-character app names, but appears to have made an exception.
The Twitter app on iOS was renamed to X on Monday, noted TechCrunch. The company previously changed the logo of the iOS app to an X, but had not yet renamed the app itself. According to developers This is because the App Store Connect portal requires them to use at least two characters for an app name.
Apple appears to have given the former Twitter an exception to this; the app is now visible as ‘X’ in the Apple App Store for iOS. Apple has not yet responded to this. The app was previously renamed on Android. The platform has also changed the tagline of the X app from ‘Let’s talk’ to ‘Blaze your glory’.
