Anker wants to release a 3D printer that can print at 250mm/s

Smartphone accessory maker Anker releases a 3D printer. The AnkerMake M5 could print at 250mm/s five times faster than most consumer printers, but there is no prototype of the product yet.

anchor says that the printer can print much faster than most competitors’ printers, such as the Ender 3 or the Prusa MK3. The standard print mode can print 250mm/s according to Anker, with an acceleration up to 2500mm/s2. The printer has an extruder with a precision of 0.1mm, but many details are still unknown. Anker says print times are also faster due to a more stable Y-stepper, a dual timing belt and “advanced algorithms” that can adjust the print. The printer can make prints of up to 235x235x250mm.

The printer has a built-in HD camera for this. This not only allows users to view their print from a distance, but through image recognition the printer can also monitor whether a print remains the same as intended. Similar add-ons are also available for other printers, like Spaghetti Detective. The printer can also see whether the filament has run out and temporarily stop the print based on that detection.

Anker supplies the printer with an app that allows users to directly load prints in addition to watching. The printer also has an HD touch screen of unknown size and a pei-sheet as a bed that can automatically level the bed with 7×7 points.

The product does not exist yet. anchor starts a Kickstarter campaign. It’s not live yet. According to The Verge the device will cost $759 after the crowdfunding.
