AMD releases new Crimson drivers to fix fan issues

AMD has rushed to release an update to the recently introduced AMD Crimson drivers to address the overheating issues of various AMD Radeon graphics cards. The update has been given version number 15.11.1.

The overheating issue was reported with several Radeon video cards and could be caused by the Crimson software leaving the fans speed at a fixed value. Users reported fans running no faster than 20 or 30 percent of maximum speed, among other things.

In addition to the fan issues, other bugs have been squashed in this release. For example, the blinking of the snow in Star Wars: Battlefront has been fixed and the rendering of the sky is now good everywhere. Compass blinking in Fallout 4 on certain AMD Radeon R9 390 versions has been fixed. Poor performance in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 when using Crossfire should no longer occur and the Overdrive fan settings are always set to ‘on’ after an initial edit of the settings after a reboot.
