AMD is releasing the Adrenalin Edition 24.1.1 driver which will bring Fluid Motion Frames to Radeon 700M, RX 6000 and RX 7000 video cards. The technology allows games based on DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 to generate additional ‘intermediate frames’.

Adrenalin Edition 24.1.1 introduces Fluid Motion Frames, part of the FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 feature set, for the respective video cards and can generate additional frames based on the movement between two frames. This new form of frame generation can lead to a doubling of the fps in DirectX 11 and 12 games and has been tested in a preview driver since the beginning of October 2023.

AMD emphasizes that the technology produces good results, especially in certain circumstances. For example, the company recommends the use of Anti-Lag+ in combination with a minimum frame rate of 60fps. AFMF also works better when a game is played fullscreen and requires that VSync and FSR upscaling are disabled. Nevertheless, latency can occur in games with fast movements. The technology must be enabled per game.

In addition to the introduction of AFMF technology, some new features are included with the driver. For example, AMD is releasing support for the Radeon RX 7600 XT, the brand’s new video card that is available from today. Video Upscaling is also compatible with ‘most DirectX 11 applications’. This technique improves the image quality of videos through upscaling. The feature must be manually enabled in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge via ‘chrome://flags’ and ‘edge://flags’ respectively. Finally, the company releases the AMD Assistant to automatically enable and disable Software functions to reduce possible battery usage.
