Adobe has announced Project Rush and is opening beta registrations. Rush is video editing software that works on PCs, smartphones and tablets. The software should be simple, but working in Premiere Pro is also possible.

Project Rush should make it easy to edit a video on multiple devices. Project files, for example, can be opened from a tablet, if they were previously created on a PC. The software works with cloud services such as Adobe’s Creative Cloud, Dropbox and Google Drive, but it is also possible to work with only local files.

The video editor runs on the same engine as Premiere Pro, according to Adobe, but Rush should be less overwhelming for novice users. However, it is possible to transfer projects within Rush to Adobe’s professional video editing software at a later date.

Rush allows users to add transitions and text, edit audio and music, and make color corrections, among other things. You can work on four tracks. The software should be released sometime later this year, Rush will be part of Adobe’s Creative Cloud and may also be free to use.

Adobe already made Premiere Clip for smartphones and tablets in the past. The new Project Rush is more comprehensive than that software and is not available exclusively for mobile devices. It is possible to sign up for a beta of Project Rush and it is available for Mac, Windows and iOS. An Android version will follow later.
