Acer to release ConceptD branded high-end PCs and monitors

Acer has announced the new ConceptD sub-brand for high-end products aimed at so-called creators. The line-up consists of desktops, laptops, monitors and VR glasses.

According to Acer, the brand should distinguish itself with powerful processors and video cards and minimalistic designs and the company’s customers include designers, film producers, engineers, architects and developers.

The company announced six products under the ConceptD name at its event in New York. The ConceptD 900 is a desktop system for graphics professionals with two Intel Xeon Gold 6148 processors and an Nvidia Quadro RTX 6000 card. There are twelve memory slots for up to 192GB ECC memory and three PCI-E x8 and four PCI-E x16 interfaces. The starting price for the machine is 20,000 euros. The ConceptD 500 is a lot more affordable at 2800 euros, but this system has to do it with an i9-9900K processor, Quadro RTX 4000 and a maximum of 32GB DDR4.

The ConceptD 9, 7 and 5 are laptops with calibrated 4k IPS screens. The ConceptD 9 is a model with a 17.3″ touchscreen that is attached to the body with long hinges so that it can be tilted. Acer supplies the laptop with a Wacom stylus that supports 4096 pressure levels. Acer provides the laptop with a mobile Core i9 and the GeForce RTX 2080. The starting price of the ConceptD 9 is 5000 euros.

The ConceptD 7 has a thickness of 17.9 mm and weighs 2.1 kilograms. This laptop gets a Core i7 and an RTX 2080 Max-Q. The 15.6 “screen is like that of the ConceptD 9 ‘Pantone Validated’, which should guarantee a good color rendering. The ConceptD 7 will be available in the Benelux from July for prices 2300 euros. The ConceptD 5 is still available at 16.9 mm. somewhat thinner and at 1.5 kilograms even lighter.This laptop further distinguishes itself with its AMD Radeon Vega M GL video card.The starting price is 1700 euros from its arrival in July.

The ConceptD CM7321K and CP7271K are monitors with 32″ and 27″ image sizes respectively and prices of 3200 euros and 2100 euros. The 32″ variant displays 4k images, has 1152 zones for local dimming and supports DisplayHDR 1000. The screen can display 89.5 percent of the Rec.2020 color space.

Finally, Acer announced the ConceptD OJO. This is a Windows Mixed Reality headset for graphic artists. The resolution of the screen is 4320×2160 pixels and an integrated audio system that focuses on the ears of the wearer so that no speakers are needed. Furthermore, Acer mentions a combination with software to determine the optimal distance to the eyes of the user. Acer did not give many details and the price is still unknown.
