Acer equips Aspire 7 laptop with Intel Kaby Lake G with Vega GPU

Acer has announced the Aspire 7, a relatively thin 15.6 “laptop that should be suitable for gaming thanks to the presence of Kaby Lake G package, or an Intel Core processor with AMD Vega GPU.

The Aspire 7 weighs 1.5 kilograms and has dimensions of 358 × 247.5 × 16.9 mm. The laptop has a metal casing, with the back of the screen being made of a magnesium lithium alloy. The 15.6 “screen is of the IPS type and in the most extensive configuration the resolution is a maximum of 3840 × 2160 pixels. Furthermore, the Aspire 7 has a maximum of 16 GB of memory and up to 512 GB of SSD storage.

Acer supplies the model with either the Core i7-8705G or the i5-8305G; in both cases the gpu on the package is the Radeon RX Vega M GL with 4GB hbm2. Intel announced Kaby Lake G in January, but hardly any laptops have appeared that use it. Until now, that’s only been the Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 and the HP Specter x360 15. The Acer Aspire 7 is in fact the first traditional laptop with Kaby Lake G, the devices from Dell and HP are convertibles with a screen that can flip.

Acer has not yet announced the price and release date of the top model in the Aspire series, but the also announced Aspire 5 and 3 will appear in December. Acer provides the Aspire 5 with Core processors up to the Core i7 and the GPU is at most the GeForce MX150. This laptop also has a 15.6″ screen, with an optional IPS panel with full HD resolution and screen edges of 7.82 mm thick. A step lower in the new series is the Aspire 3, which offers, for example, a maximum of 8GB DDR4. has.

Acer is also releasing an all-in-one in the Aspire range. This Aspire Z 24 PC with 11mm thickness and v-shaped metal stand has four microphones, for control with a voice assistant. The screen is an IPS model with a diagonal of 23.8 inches and a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. In its most extensive configuration, the desktop PC gets a Core i7 desktop processor with 32GB Optane memory and an Nvidia GeForce MX150 GPU.

The Aspire 3 will appear in December for a starting price of 399 euros, the Aspire 5 in the same month for 649 euros and higher. The Aspire Z 24 will arrive in October, for a price starting at 900 euros.

Acer also announced the new Swift series at IFA in Berlin. In addition to the Swift 5, the company showed the Swift 7, which weighs less than a kilogram and is less than 10mm thick. Acer places particular emphasis on the thin 4.27mm bezels on the sides and on the top and bottom, making the laptop’s surface area 15 percent smaller than that of the previous Swift 7. Except that Acer has upgraded the laptop with a Core i7 is going to deliver, not much is known about this model yet.
