Mercedes AMG GT Black series takes fastest time ever at Nürburgring Nordschleife

Lap records at the Nürburgring Nordschleife are always only temporary and sometimes unclear. They come in many different categories depending on the type of car. The most popular category is of course that of the – normal – passenger cars. Although that concept is also quite elastic.

Mercedes AMG GT Black Series

Because you can get a Mercedes AMG GT Black Series describe it as such. Because with 730 hp (800 Nm), a sprint from 3.2 seconds to 100 km / h and a top speed of 325 km / h and a price tag of over 420,000 euros, you know that you have entered the hors category.

The most powerful Mercedes, with Maro Engel behind the wheel, has at least (for the time being) broken the lap record of the Nordschleife with a time of 6:43:16 hours. In doing so, he improves Marco Mapelli’s lap record with a 2018 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ LP770-4. A minimal difference, but faster. About 10 years ago Timo Kluck drove a Porsche 911 GT2 RS the same lap in 7:18 hours.

That was a really impressive ride. With speeds of up to almost 270 km / h in the Kesselchen section of the track or well over 300 km / h on the long Döttinger Höhe straight, the AMG GT Black Series is significantly faster than my GT3 race car. To finally drive around the Nordschleife in 6: 48.047 minutes with a production road car in these track conditions is really awesome. Like my GT3 race car, the AMG GT Black Series offers a lot of adjustment possibilities, all of which enabled me to create a setup that was tailor-made for me ..
