Rumor: Photos show dual camera and 256GB storage for iPhone 7 Plus
The iPhone 7 Plus may get a dual camera on the back and storage space up to 256GB. This would appear from leaked images of the hardware that were posted on the Chinese microblog Weibo on Saturday.
In the images, which also tweeted by Steve Hemmerstoffer of OnLeaks, the dual camera module can be seen next to what should represent some nand memory chips. They would come from SanDisk and have capacities of 16, 64 and 256GB. The expansion to 256GB of storage memory would be Apple’s first; at the moment, the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus with 128GB have the largest amount of storage. It is striking that the 16GB variant would still remain in the range. Due to the continuously improving quality of the cameras, such an amount of storage space is becoming less and less sufficient.
The images are in line with previous leaks that indicated that Apple is making improvements to the iPhone 7 series, especially in the area of the camera and storage space. For example, an image leaked this week that would show that the iPhone 7 would not get a dual camera, but would have laser autofocus. In addition, rumors regularly circulate that the new iPhone will not have a 3.5mm headphone connection, but a USB-type-c connection for headphones. This could make the device thinner. This too has yet to be proven. An updated design for Apple’s smartphones seems to have to wait at least until 2017.
