Sony has announced that it will also sell its SSDs outside of Japan. It concerns the consumer series SLW-M that the Asian branch of the company announced. Although many details are still missing, it is known that there will be versions of 240GB and 480GB.

The SLW-M series has been put on the Sony Asia website and the SSDs are planned to be released internationally. This makes the SLW-M the first series of SSDs that Sony releases outside of Japan; the company is a relative newcomer to the ssd market. Two different models are sold, with storage capacities of 240GB and 480GB. The hardware is likely powered by a Phison S10 series controller, TechPowerup knows.

Furthermore, the SSD has a SATA 3.0 interface with a maximum speed of 6.0Gbit/s, and Sony promises that read speeds of 560Mbyte/s will be achieved, while the write speeds are 530Mbyte/s. The whole is housed in a housing with a thickness of only 7 mm.

Precise data on availability in Europe is still lacking. The prices that Sony asks for the SSD are therefore not yet known.
