AMD has slashed the prices of its line of Ryzen Threadripper processors. These are significant reductions, with some models receiving a 50 percent lower recommended retail price. Incidentally, the retail price is usually lower than AMD’s suggested retail price.

A list of new prices for the Threadripper series recently surfaced on the web, and AMD has confirmed to PC Gamer through a spokesperson that the information is correct. It concerns the American suggested retail prices, with the first generation processors getting a lower price. For example, the 1950X goes down from $999 to $799, and the 1900X is lowered from $449 to $299. The 1920X gets the biggest price drop, at about 50 percent; the suggested retail price goes from $799 to $399.

Information in the Pricewatch shows that the prices of the first-generation Threadripper processors have already fallen sharply recently. Nevertheless, it is likely that prices will fall in the near future; in fact, first-generation Threadripper processors have steadily gotten cheaper in recent months, reaching retail prices well below AMD’s suggested retail price.
