QuakeCon was canceled earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, but Bethesda Softworks and id Software have now announced that the event will continue in a different format. It will be an online event, taking place from August 7-9.

The organizers call the event QuakeCon at home. They describe it as a global event and call on interested parties to participate. Parts of the program include live streams, tournaments, charitable fundraisers and a number of things that Bethesda is still keeping under wraps. The company says it will provide more information in the coming weeks.

QuakeCon was originally supposed to take place in physical form in Dallas in August, but at the end of March Bethesda Softworks and id Software decided to cancel the event due to the corona pandemic. It would be the 25th annual QuakeCon event. Typically, the event promotes games from id Software and other studios of ZeniMax, the parent company of publisher Bethesda Software.
