Publisher 2K Games has announced that action game Mafia III will be released on October 7. Set in a city inspired by late 1960s New Orleans, the game is being developed for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

At the same time as announcing the game’s release date, 2K Games also released a new trailer for Mafia III. The trailer shows the game’s main character, Lincoln Clay, going to war with organized crime in his hometown of New Bordeaux, which is clearly based on New Orleans. The war begins when the black mafia is massacred by the Italian mafia, after which Clay seeks revenge. A large amount of fights, shootings, chases and all kinds of other actions are the result, as can be seen in the trailer of the game that is being made by development studio Hangar 13.

In addition to the release date, 2K Games also announced that two special editions of Mafia III will be released. The Deluxe Edition, which includes the season pass, will cost 89.99 euros and the company asks 69.99 euros for the PC version. The limited Collector’s Edition costs 139.99 euros for console gamers, and it is also two tens cheaper for the PC. That version includes a number of physical extras in addition to the contents of the Deluxe Edition, such as the soundtrack on vinyl and an artbook. All gamers who pre-order Mafia III will receive the ‘Family Kick-Back’ bonus, which will provide some additional vehicles and weapons upon release of the game.
