Xiaomi will start mass production of electric cars in the first half of 2024. Details about the cars of the Chinese electronics giant are not yet known. Xiaomi recently set up the Xiaomi EV business unit and plans to invest 8.5 billion euros in it over ten years.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun mentioned the start of production at an investor meeting, Reuters writes. Xiaomi has not yet disclosed details about its own electric cars and it is not yet clear where they will be sold. It is obvious that they are in any case destined for the Chinese market. Xiaomi has been rumored to be collaborating with Chinese automaker Great Wall.

In March, Xiaomi announced its intention to make electric cars. In early September, the company founded Xiaomi EV, a business unit for “smart electric vehicles”. This was accompanied by an initial investment of 1.3 billion euros, which should increase to 8.5 billion euros in the next ten years. Xiaomi has also acquired Deepmotion Tech, a company focused on autonomous driving.
