Xiaomi releases three Redmi 4 budget smartphones in China

Xiaomi has announced three low-cost smartphones. The Redmi 4A, 4 and 4 Pro cost converted between 80 and 145 euros, and have a large battery, a 5 “screen and a metal housing. Xiaomi only releases the devices in China.

The entry-level model, which is in stores for 499 yuan, is the Redmi 4A. Converted and with VAT that is about 80 euros. For that money, Xiaomi offers a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quadcore, 2GB ram and 16GB storage capacity, which can be expanded with a micro SD card. The camera has a 13-megapixel resolution and the 5″ screen shows 1280×720 pixels. The battery has a capacity of 3120mAh.

The Redmi 4 has specs similar to the 4A, but also has a fingerprint scanner. Furthermore, the soc is a Snapdragon 430 octacore and it has a higher battery capacity of 4100mAh. The device is sold for 699 yuan, which is converted and with VAT about 113 euros.

The most expensive model of the three, the Redmi 4 Pro, has a Snapdragon 625-soc, 3GB ram, 32GB expandable storage capacity and a 1080p screen of the same 5″ format. The camera has a 16-megapixel sensor and pdaf. just like the Redmi 4 has a 4100mAh battery and a fingerprint scanner.The phone costs 899 yuan, converted and with VAT 145 euros.

The phones run on MIUI 8, which is based on Android 6.0. It is not yet known which frequency bands the phones support. Xiaomi phones often lack support for certain bands used in Europe, such as the 800MHz band.

Although these models will only be released in China, Xiaomi seems to be exploring the possibilities of the international market. In October, the manufacturer in Poland started selling European versions of the Redmi 3S, Redmi Note 3 and Mi 5. Unlike their Chinese counterparts, these phones support all 4G bands in Europe. Furthermore, the company has announced an international version of the Mi Note 2, which also supports all frequency bands.
