Xiaomi is likely to introduce Android One device
Smartphone supplier Xiaomi will probably supply Android One devices in the long term. The Chinese company has reported the possible arrival of the new models based on Google’s entry-level platform to Indian media.
Xiaomi is enamored with Android One, India Today writes. The appearance of such Xiaomi devices is only a matter of time, according to Hugo Barra, vice president of the Chinese company. Barra used to work for Google. He would therefore not be objective, because he has been involved in the development process of Android One. The smartphone supplier would currently like to focus on the current products first and not want to plunge into a new product line. However, Xiaomi does want to offer customers choices, according to Barra, and offering Android One devices would be one way to achieve that.
An Android One device runs stock Android. However, manufacturers and carriers can add their own apps. The search giant wants to help manufacturers with the innovation to bring good and cheap Android devices to the market. In September, the first three Android One devices appeared in India. HTC will also bring cheap Android One models to the market.
