WhatsApp is working on a feature to save a disappearing message

Meta chat app WhatsApp is working on a way to save a disappearing message. This is evident from the beta version of the app for Android and iOS. Users can add a message to bookmarks to see it after it should have disappeared.

These bookmarks are for messages that users in a group chat consider important. Anyone can add anyone’s message as a bookmark, writes WABetaInfo. Anyone can then remove a message from the bookmarks, after which it will disappear forever, the site claims. It is unknown if this is the intended behavior of bookmarks, or if it is a poorly implemented feature in the beta.

The feature is included in 2.23.8.3 for Android and 23.7.0.72 for iOS, which is currently only available to beta users. Moreover, it seems that not all users with the beta have the feature. According to the site, this will happen in the coming weeks. WhatsApp hasn’t said anything about the feature yet, but since it’s in iOS and Android, it looks like WhatsApp wants to test the feature soon.
