Translation points to feature in WhatsApp to retract messages

Some sentences that WhatsApp has asked volunteers to translate indicate that the chat app will soon come with a function to retract messages after sending. Canceling messages after sending is now not possible in WhatsApp.

On the site where volunteers can translate sentences in WhatsApp, the chat service asks to translate the sentences ‘Revoke message’ and ‘Sender revoked the message’ for the iPhone version. WhatsApp relies on volunteers to translate its app. In recent years, information about new functions has been published more often via the translation site.

The texts are currently only available in the iOS version of WhatsApp. It would be the first time WhatsApp would offer a message retraction feature. The feature is especially useful if users accidentally post a message in the wrong chat.

Update, 14:32: Twitterer WABetaInfo has posted screenshots of what the function will probably look like. It would work with a long press on the message itself, after which various options appear.
