Super Lucky’s Tale Developer Fires Employees

PlayFul Corp, the company behind Super Lucky’s Tale, has laid off a “significant portion” of its workforce. That is what the company itself says. The layoffs are necessitated by the move to ‘produce games in a new way’ through ‘developments in the game industry’.

It is unknown how many people will have to leave the company. The announcement only states that Playful Corp has “significantly” reduced its workforce. “Ongoing changes in the global video games market require Playful to adapt its approach to developing and manufacturing current and future products,” the company said. “The studio will adopt a more streamlined production model with distributed game development and dynamic project teams.”

Playful is known for the game Super Lucky’s Tale, which came out in 2017 for Xbox One and PC and last year for Switch. The studio from the US state of Texas also previously made Lucky’s Tale for the Oculus Rift VR headset.
