Sony will remove hundreds of Discovery series from PlayStation accounts. Users who purchased these series from the PlayStation Store will no longer be able to watch them from December 31.

According to Sony Discovery content will be removed from PlayStation users’ video libraries “due to our content licensing agreements with content providers.” This concerns hundreds of programs, including several seasons of Mythbusters, Man vs. Wild, Shark Week and Say Yes to the Dress.

In 2008, the ability to purchase movies and TV shows was added to the PS3’s PlayStation Store. Since August 31, 2021, it has no longer been possible for users to purchase individual TV series and films in the PlayStation Store. However, content that had already been purchased could still be viewed. Last year, access to purchased films and series from StudioCanal was already denied in Germany and Austria, including titles such as Paddington and The Hunger Games, also due to expiring licensing agreements. Users whose purchased content is removed will not receive a refund.
