BillP Studios has released version 19.3 of WinPatrol 2010. In this program ‘Scotty, the Windows watchdog’ keeps an eye on the system, which should make it work faster and more stable. Scotty detects and stops attacks from spy, ad and malware, viruses and malicious Internet Explorer add-ons, while also preventing home page hijacks. A few other things are also monitored, including the processes running on the PC, the hosts file, and file extensions. In addition to the free version, there is also a paid one Plus variant, which provides access to a database with extensive information about programs and processes, which states, for example, whether they are safe or malicious. Since the previous entry in the Meuktracker, the following changes and improvements have been made:

• Due to an increased number of illegal versions of WinPatrol being distributed on torrent and keygen sites this version has been enhanced to make it easier for legitimate users to activate their PLUS code. While legitimate users will have easier access, illegal users will be encouraged to upgrade.
• HiJackLog updated to show correct description for Windows 7 even thought technically it’s reported as version 6.
• Setup program was fixed to turn off debug mode which created two text files which aren’t needed.
