Software Update: VisualRoute 2006 10.0c

Visualware has just released a maintenance release of VisualRoute 2006 in the form of version 10.0c. This program was originally a graphical counterpart to the ‘tracert’ command, which can be used to see the route through which the data packets are sent over the network. Over time, more options have been added, such as reverse DNS and Whois lookups, and an eMailTracker to identify email servers. The software is available for Linux, Solaris, Mac OS X and Windows, and can be used in different variants depending on the registration code. • Trace route history data. History files for all trace routes are automatically created for future review and reporting.
• Ping plotter history data. History files for all Ping Plotter graphs are automatically saved for future review and reporting.
• Continuous traces. Measure connection performance over an extended period of time by specifying a traceroute to be run continuously.
• DNS Performance Testing. Measures and reports on domain lookup response.

VisualRoute 2006 Enhancements for BUSINESS, SERVER, SUPPORT and PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT EDITIONS:

• Trace route history data. History files for all trace routes are automatically created for future review and reporting.

• Continuous traces. Measure connection performance over an extended period of time by specifying a traceroute to be run continuously.

• Trace report comparison. This advanced feature provides the ability to compare two traceroutes side by side. This allows you to compare things like average response time and packet loss between two different times.
• Customizable maps. Now you can create and include custom maps for VisualRoute mapping. VisualRoute allows the user to make use of the custom maps in a number of different ways during route analysis.
• Pingplotter browser. Access the VisualRoute Ping Plotter feature from within the VisualRoute server browser GUI. This feature is only supported in the Business Edition and Server Edition.
