Software Update: Total Commander 8.00 Beta 16
Another beta release has appeared of version 8.0 of the file manager Total Commander, number 16 now. The biggest change in version 8.0 is that a separate 64bit version is now also available. However, the average user will not notice much. Christian Ghisler, the developer of Total Commander, said: “The 64-bit bit version is mainly for ignorant people who think that 64-bit is better, and for some very specific usage cases (eg only 64-bit extension available, or 64-bit Windows PE with no 32-bit support). In this beta release we mainly find bug fixes.
What’s new?
Beta 16 is mainly a bug fix release.
To the translators: There are some new strings to translate – please do NOT translate anything before I contact you by e-mail!
Total Commander 8.0 is the first version available in both 32-bit and 64-bit. Currently there aren’t many 64-bit plugins yet – I will publish them when they become available. Therefore you should keep the 32-bit version for the moment if you use plugins regularly.
A list of additions and corrections, also for previous versions, can be found in the history file.
As usual, the update is free for all registered users.
