Download Samsung SSD 840 EVO Performance Restoration Software 1.0

Samsung has released a tool that should solve the performance problems with the SSDs from the 840 EVO series. The program first updates the firmware, for the sata models to EXT0CB6Q and for the msata models to EXT42B6Q, then the ssd is scanned and calibrated. Right now there is only one program that does both for Windows. A dos version should also be released later this month, so that computers running OS X or Linux can also be updated.

Samsung is releasing a new firmware and performance restoration software package for the 840 EVO and 840 EVO mSATA. The firmware update is recommended to users who may have experienced any drop in read performance of the mentioned drives.

Running the software packages provided will first update the firmware(840 EVO : EXT0CB6Q, 840 EVO mSATA : EXT42B6Q), then scan and calibrate all existing data on the drive.Note that the update time can be more than an hour depending on the amount of dates.
