Download RegCompact.NET 1.7
Daniel Werner has developed an application, made in C#, intended for rebuilding (and thus making smaller) the registry in Windows. It therefore cost him little effort to come up with the name RegCompact.NET. The program is free to use, is released under GPL license and the source code is therefore also available† Version 1.7 of this program has just been released and since this is the first time this program is in the junk tracker, here is a list of all the changes since the program was released:
Changes in 1.7:
- Fixed a problem caused by storing the registry in the temporary directory which on systems with a non-NTFS or ramdrive temporary directory would result in incorrect permissions set for the new registry hives. The new hives are now stored in the same directory as the existing hives, with the extension .rctemp.
Changes in 1.6:
- Now supports Windows NT 4 and Windows 2000 in addition to Windows XP.
Changes in 1.5:
- Now licensed under the terms of the GPL. Removed registration system.
Changes in 1.4:
- Fixed bug where trial time ended after only one day. Improved hive display.
- Fixed bug where compacting the registry more than once wouldn’t work on ceratain systems.
Changes in 1.3:
- Now uses better installer (Nullsoft NSIS).
- Improved graphics.
Changes in 1.2:
- Updated support for advanced Windows XP visual styles.
