Software Update: RawTherapee 5.7

RawTherapee is an open source photo editing program and focuses on editing raw photo files. In addition to these so-called raw files, it can also handle jpeg, bmp, tiff and png. The original photo is never affected, all editing takes place in memory and is not written until the photo is exported. For an overview of the possibilities, we refer to this page on Raw Pedia. Version 5.7 has been released and the announcement looks like this:

New Features since 5.6:

  • Film Negative tool, for easily developing raw photographs or film negatives.
  • Support for reading “rating” tags from Exif and XMP, shown in the File Browser/Filmstrip using RawTherapee’s star rating system.
  • Hundreds of bug fixes, speed optimizations and raw format support improvements.

RawTherapee and other open-source projects require access to sample raw files from various camera makes and models in order to support those raw formats correctly. You can help by submitting raw files to RPU:
