Software Update: PowerArchiver 2003 8.7 beta 1

The folks behind PowerArchiver 2003 released the industry’s first 8.7 beta released This program can use different compression methods to pack and unpack files. For example, it is possible to compress a folder with documents into a zip archive. Eight improvements have been made in this release, including installation-related:

  • UnRar optimizations: better CRC error info, partial support for UNICODE (when all files are being extracted), fixed all known issues.
  • ZIP optimizations: support for file sizes in overwrite dialogue, support for spans (multivolumes) larger than 4 GB, minor other fixes and optimizations.
  • All other formats have been updated (TAR, GZIP, LHA, ARJ, ZOO and BH).
  • Fixes for minor issues: issue that appeared during large file SFX creation, issue with file date filter in backup, fix for sorting files by type.
  • Better error info when compressing locked files.
  • New feature: default path added to FTP profiles.
  • Installation updated, smaller file size, more options, and MSI installations and advanced setups are available for all translations (only for registered business license users).
  • Minor other small fixes and enhancements.
