Software update: PeaZip 2.9

Spread the love

After the beta two weeks ago, the final release of version 2.9 of PeaZip has now been released. This archiving program is available under an open source license and tries to differentiate itself from the competition by specializing in security. Encrypting data is therefore the spearhead of our own pea format. The program can create 7z, bz2, gz, paq/lpaq, pea, quad, tar, upx and zip files and extract various file formats including ace, arj, cab, deb, iso, lha , rar and rpm. Compared to the beta release, the following changes and improvements have also been made:

File manager

  • (Windows) Added reference SendTo items in PeaZip’s path to simplify customizing installation, to share those items between users, and to use this type of system integration for PeaZip Portable
  • (Windows) New default icon library with icons from Seven theme
  • Various fixes

Windows installer

  • (Windows 7) Cascaded context menu with icons, since in Windows 7 and later cascading menu implementation is supported through registry settings, which is now recommended over COM methods
  • Various fixes
