Software Update: Patch My PC 4.0.0.8

Version 4.0.0.8 of Patch My PC has been released. This program can check whether the latest versions of a large number of programs – including Mozilla Firefox, Java, iTunes, Skype and Adobe Flash – are installed. In addition, it can see which Windows Updates are still missing from the system and which programs are starting with Windows, and can remove programs. This makes Patch My PC comparable to SUMo from KC Softwares.

The program itself is less than two megabytes in size and does not need to be installed to do its job. The user can indicate which updates should be installed or skipped and then everything is retrieved and installed with one mouse click. The language of the installation can also be specified. In version 4.0, the interface has been refreshed and it is now easier to jump to subcategories. Furthermore, there is a context menu per application and a lot of new applications have been added to the list of supported programs.
