Download Parted Magic 5.5

Version 5.5 of Parted Magic was released on Sunday. This Linux distribution is specifically for partitioning hard drives. In addition to GParted and Parted, it includes several more useful tools, including Partition Image, TestDisk, TrueCrypt, G4L, SuperGrubDisk, and ddrescue. The software is released under the gpl license and is available in different versions. For example, there is a live CD, a pxeversion and a version that can be used from a USB stick. Parted Magic can handle ext2, ext3, ext4, fat16, fat32, hfs, hfs+, jfs, linux-swap, ntfs, reiserfs, reiser4, and xfs. The following changes and improvements have been made in this release:

Parted Magic 5.5

Parted Magic 5.5 updates a significant amount of packages and fixes some minor bugs. The programs have been updated to dosfstools-3.0.9, jfsutils-1.1.14, perl-5.12.1, ddrescue-1.13, e2fsprogs-1.41.12, openssh-5.6p1, xfsprogs-3.1.3, linux-2.6.35.4 , tar-1.23, xchat-2.8.8, zlib-1.2.3, pciutils-3.1.7, syslinux-4.02, vte-0.24.3, lftp-4.0.10, mc-4.7.0.9, udev-162, chromium -browser-7.0.517.0, clonezilla-1.2.6-20, and libpci3-3.1.7.

The program flashrom-0.9.2+r1141 has been added. Flashrom is a utility for identifying, reading, writing, verifying and erasing flash chips.

The Parted Magic ISO image is now “hybrid”, so it can be written directly to a USB drive using dd.
