Software Update: Nagios 2.3 / 1.4

Spread the love

With the program Nagios you can monitor different parts of your network and services on your servers. Among other things, it can check for SMTP, POP3, HTTP and NNTP services, and host resources such as processor load and disk usage. When something happens that you want to be kept informed about, you can set different notifications that can then be delivered by mail or pager. The program can easily be expanded to your own liking by using the plugin structure. For more information, we refer you to this page and a zipper with screenshots is up this page to watch. The developers have released two new versions with 2.3 and 1.4 as the version numbers. The announcement and the list of changes look like this:

New versions of both the Nagios 1.x and 2.x code branches have been released and contain a fix for a content length (buffer) overflow that could affect the CGIs under certain web servers (although probably not Apache).
