SeaMonkey is the continuation of the Mozilla Suite after the Mozilla Foundation announced it was discontinuing further development. SeaMonkey has a web explorer and an e-mail program that use Gecko 1.8.1. In addition, there is also a newsgroup and irc client present and it is completed with a program to edit html files. The members of the SeaMonkey Council have released a new security release with 1.1.4 as the version number, and provided it with the following announcement:

SeaMonkey 1.1.4 Security Release

The SeaMonkey team has been made aware of some security problems found in its all-in-one internet suite software. As a result, SeaMonkey 1.1.4 is being released today, fixing those security vulnerabilities. With this release, SeaMonkey stays at the same level of security as its siblings Firefox and Thunderbird, which were issuing updates for the same problems recently as well.

The SeaMonkey team urges users of older SeaMonkey versions, including the SeaMonkey 1.0.x series, which is not updated for those known security issues any more, to upgrade. Additionally, the team continues to strongly urge people still using the old Mozilla Suite or even Netscape 4, 6 or 7 to upgrade to the new SeaMonkey 1.1.4 version. All those older software packages suffer from a large and steadily increasing number of security vulnerabilities because they are no longer being maintained. SeaMonkey 1.1.4 is a modern, drop-in replacement, providing the same familiar suite functionality with additional features and fully up to date security fixes.

• MFSA 2007-27 Unescaped URIs passed to external programs
• MFSA 2007-26 Privilege escalation through chrome-loaded about:blank windows
• MFSA 2007-23 Remote code execution by launching SeaMonkey from Internet Explorer
