Max is an application for the Mac OS X platform that allows you to convert a music CD into audio files in MP3, FLAC or Ogg Vorbis format. It uses, among other things, the encoders LAME, libVorbis, libFLAC and Core Audio to compress the music and can pre-fill the artist and titles for you with the help of FreeDB. The developer has released version 0.4.1 with the following changes:

- Fixed multithreaded issue in ripper log that could cause ripping to hang

- Added support for encoding AAC, Apple Lossless, and numerous additional output formats using Core Audio
- Added Ogg FLAC support
- Ability to submit disc information to FreeDB added
- Custom naming formats now have the option to use two-digit track numbers
- Optional ripper logging
- Ripper and Encoder now have separate windows
