Download KDE Software Compilation 4.5.3

Last Wednesday the third update was released for version 4.5.0 of the KDE Software Compilation. This popular desktop environment, which consists of the Development Platform, Plasma Workspaces and Applications components, is primarily developed for Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris. There are also versions for Windows and Mac OS X, although they are somewhat less advanced in their development. The KDE Software Compilation comes with a standard desktop, including a variety of applications, including a personal information manager, multimedia and network management programs, and games. In version 4.5.0, the emphasis has been on improving usability, performance and stability. The following improvements have also been made in this update:

4.5.3 brings a number of improvements:

• KSharedDataCache has cache invalidation bug fixed that caused stability issues when daylight saving time changed.
• Icon overlays in Dolphin are now positioned correctly after adjusting the zoom level.
• Okular, KDE’s universal document viewer has seen improvements in the DjVu and XPS backends.
