Software Update: Avast Antivirus 2014 Beta 3

Alwil Software has released the third beta release of version 2014 of its Avast security tools. The program is available in the free Free Antivirus, and the paid Pro Antivirus and Internet Security versions. In addition, there is Premier, which has additional management functions, such as the possibility to take over a PC remotely and possibly erase the hard disk. In version 2014, the various components have been improved, the web browser can be placed in safe mode for online shopping and banking, and a self-starting CD or USB stick can be made from the program to scan the computer offline.

• FW sometimes blocked downloading of files
• WebShield is now fully IPv6 compatible
• ARA was not fully compatible with previous versions of avast!
• UI statistics page was redesigned
• Disabling of the Web Shield is now working fine
• RescueDisk tuning (GUI & usability)
• GUI glitches
• Network protection component tuning & compatibility (Win8)
• no more Tdi technology
• Windows 8.1 compatibility
• Smooth updates of VPS & program
• Updated the SafeZone browser

Known issues

• IE can crash sometimes (we are checking that)
• avast! online security IE plugin still not ready
• my.devices tab deserves more tuning of the GUI

It should be possible to install this version on top of your existing avast! installation (all settings should be preserved).
