Download Apple Mac OS X 10.4.8

Apple has just released a patch for Mac OS X, which upgrades the operating system to version 10.4.8. The update has been released for both PowerPC– if Intelsystems and fixes some issues regarding USB hardware. The download also includes some security updatesThat one as well have been made available for Mac OS X 10.3.9. The 10.4.8 update is in stark contrast to what Apple will release early next year, when Mac OS X 10.5 “Leopard” is planned. Notable new applications in Leopard include Time Machine, Spaces, and Boot Camp, which are discussed in this news article, as well as other new features in 10.5. The 10.4.8 Server Update is recommended for all servers and includes fixes for the operating system and various applications, services and technologies. It includes fixes for:

• avoiding AFP server deadlocks and thread starvation
• streaming movies to localized versions of the QuickTime Player
• preventing panics when operating with Xsan and other memory intensive kernel extensions
• vnode allocation on systems with at least 2GB of RAM
