Adobe Labs has released the first beta version of Flash Player 10. Version 10.0.1.218, code-named Astro, features a large number of improvements over the previous 9 release. For example, the player now includes support for 3D effects, a new text engine has been added and color management. To improve the performance of the player, the gpu can now be used. Furthermore, support is now available for ‘dynamic streaming’ and the rtmfp protocol. Flash Player’s new capabilities can be viewed on a demonstration page from Adobe.
