Download 7-Zip 4.48 beta

A new beta release of the open source archiving program 7-Zip has just been released with version number 4.48. This program can handle the compression formats zip, cab, rar, arj, lzh, chm, gzip, bzip2, z, tar, cpio, rpm, deb and of course the self-developed 7z. In addition, it is also able to open iso files and nsis installation packages. Since version 4.31, there are separate versions for 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows. The main change in this release is that the encryption of 7z files has been strengthened:

• Encryption strength for .7z format was increased. Now it uses random initialization vectors.
• Some bugs were fixed.
