The unannounced Samsung SmartTag 2 tracker has surfaced at a British online store. The listing at the store confirms, among other things, the updated design and that the tracker will receive UWB support. It is not known exactly when the SmartTag 2 will appear.

Bee the British online store black and white variants of the Samsung SmartTag 2 trackers can be seen, noted 9to5Google. The trackers have a new design with a larger hole, with which the tracker can be attached to a key ring, for example. The device itself is therefore also more elongated than before. That was already expected; the SmartTag 2 previously appeared at the American FCC.

The listing also confirms that the SmartTag 2 supports both ultra-wideband and Bluetooth as communication technologies. Uwb allows the tracker to be accurately tracked with a supported Samsung smartphone. The tracker again uses Samsung’s SmartThings Find network. This allows Galaxy devices to determine the location of the trackers, just like Apple’s Find My network does, for example, with AirTags and Apple devices such as iPhones and iPads.

Samsung released its first SmartTag trackers two years ago. The company came with two variants: first a ‘normal’ model with only Bluetooth, and later a Plus variant that also supported UWB as a communication technology. Friday’s SmartTag 2 listing, along with the FCC’s previous details, seems to suggest that only one model will appear this time with both Bluetooth and UWB support. However, this has not yet been officially confirmed.

It is not known when Samsung will officially announce its SmartTag 2 tracker. The British online store mentions a delivery time of two months, in addition to a suggested retail price of £43. This equates to 50 euros. However, it is not known whether that price is final; it can also be a placeholder. The first SmartTag and SmartTag+ cost 30 and 40 euros respectively upon release.
