For the die-hard fans of Star Wars there is a new gadget to expand the collection. Samsung is going to launch a robot vacuum cleaner. Not in the form of BB-8 or R2-D2, but the device is actually a Darth Vader riding mask or that of a Stormtrooper.

The vacuuming Darth Vader and Imperial Stormtrooper can produce pre-installed music, sounds and phrases taken from the Star Wars universe. With the Darth Vader vacuum cleaner you can hear the characteristic heavy breathing, but also lightsaber sounds are part of the repertoire.

Furthermore, the Darth Vader model says “You are powerful” when the turbo mode comes on, and when the vacuum cleaner is charged, the signature song Imperial March is played. The vacuum cleaners have WiFi support and can be controlled via a remote control, a smartphone app or via voice commands with Alexa.

The two vacuum cleaners are based on Samsung’s existing Powerbot VR7000 robot vacuum. The Star Wars variants have a system with a centrifuge that can separate dust in the device from dirt and debris. This means that the filter in the device should last longer.

Furthermore, the device has a special system to suck up dirt at the baseboards, and there are a digital camera and nine sensors on board, so that the vacuum cleaner can effortlessly navigate through the room completely autonomously. The large wheels should help to get on a thick rug, for example. The surface is also scanned, so that the suction power is automatically adapted to the material.

The Darth Vader model costs $799, while the white Stormtrooper vacuum cleaner is $100 cheaper. The vacuum cleaners can be ordered now and will be delivered from November 5. The regular Powerbot VR7000 robot vacuum cleaner from Samsung costs 899 euros.
