Chinese smartphone brands under the Oga group are reportedly working on smartphones with 24GB of RAM. Although no specific companies are mentioned, the device is said to use ColorOS, the operating system of OPPO, and in China of OnePlus.

That’s what leaker writes Digital Chat Station on Weibo. The Chinese source regularly has accurate information about smartphone specifications at an early stage. In this case, he would have information about a flagship series of smartphones where the top model will have 24GB Lpddr5x memory. The undescribed device would in any case have 16GB of RAM as standard. So far, with a few exceptions, most premium smartphones have a maximum of 16GB of memory, so 24GB would be a significant step forward, although media such as Android Authority wonder what the added value of so much extra memory is.

The Oga group consists of OnePlus, OPPO and realme, Chinese smartphone companies that are all part of the umbrella tech company BKK Electronics. The companies are said to be working together on developments for their technology, although the exact nature of the collaboration has not been publicly announced. The fact that Oga and ColorOS are being discussed points to the group of Chinese manufacturers in question, since OnePlus and OPPO use the operating system at least in their home country and as far as OPPO is concerned, even worldwide. Realme uses a modified version of ColorOS called realme UI.

By the way, several business units of OPPO and subsidiary OnePlus were already merged in 2021 and OPPO suddenly closed its chip design division this year. It is not clear to what extent these developments are related to the activities of the Oga group.
