Rumor: MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC does not have light, economical cores
MediaTek would only use Cortex X4 and A720 cores in its Dimensity 9300 SoC. This would make it the first SoC that does not have economical processor cores for light tasks on board. MediaTek will probably announce the soc at the end of this year.
It is no secret that MediaTek makes a SoC with Cortex X4 and A720 cores, because that’s what the processor designer himself says. MediaTek will also use the Arm Immortalis G720 GPU. Since the multi-core architecture for smartphones has existed, processor designers have always combined heavier cores with more efficient, smaller cores for light tasks.
According to Digital Chat Station the upcoming Dimensity 9300 has four Cortex X4 cores and four A720 cores. This would be possible because the power consumption due to the processor cores used and a more economical 4nm process is lower than with previous generations. MediaTek usually announces its Dimensity 9×00 socks in November or December.
