Apple would like to lower the price of the MacBook Pro without the Touch Bar, because the laptop does not sell as well as the manufacturer had expected. The model currently costs almost 1700 euros at Apple, 300 euros less than the cheapest model with Touch Bar.

The price cut should boost deliveries, reports noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who regularly reports accurate information about the company first. The site 9to5Mac published the information from Kuo’s report. It is unknown by how much the price should go down.

The MacBook Pro without Touch Bar has largely the same hardware, but in addition to the OLED strip that replaces the function keys, it also lacks the fingerprint scanner Touch ID. In addition, the model does not have four USB-C ports, but only two. The MacBook Pro came out at the same time as the models with Touch Bar.

In addition, Apple is working on new models with Kaby Lake processors. The first Apple laptop with Kaby Lake would be the 12″ MacBook, which will go into mass production in the spring. The MacBook Pro models would follow in the summer. In between, there would be a model with 32GB of RAM, an option that is currently missing among the laptops for the professional market.

Kuo does not report anything about any desktop systems from Apple. Tim Cook swore late last year that Apple is working on new desktops. The company last updated its iMac in late 2015, while the latest Mac Pro and Mac Mini models are from a few years ago.
