Rockchip, a Chinese manufacturer of low-cost ARM-socs, is launching a number of new chips. The company wants to release two quad-cores, while also an octa-core soc that is baked at 28nm.

The information about three unannounced Rockchip socs could be found in a folder describing new tablets from the company T-Chip, Lilliputing reports. The RK3126 and RK3128 are both 40nm SOCs with four ARM Cortex A7 cores and an unspecified Mali GPU. Clock speeds are not mentioned.

Both quad-core socs are compatible with Android 4.4 and have a hardware decoder core for h265 videos with a maximum resolution of up to 1080p. The RK3126 should be available in October and the RK3128 a month later.

Rockchip also seems to want to release an octacore soc this year. The soc has another code name: MayBach. The 28nm MayBach soc contains eight ARM Cortex A53 cores that can run in 64bit mode. The integrated h265 decoder could handle resolutions up to 4k and there is support for the HDMI 2.0 interface, which is also intended for UHD material. The MayBach soc thus also seems to be aimed at set-top boxes and media players. The MayBach would be available from December. Information about the RK3288, the simplest soc in the published brochure, already came online last summer.
