RedMagic 6S Pro gaming smartphone with Snapdragon 888+ costs 599 euros

Nubia presents a slightly faster variant of its RedMagic 6 Pro smartphone. The 6S Pro gets a Snapdragon 888+ soc, improved cooling and the touch sampling rate of the screen goes up to 720Hz. The device will be available from September 27.

The RedMagic 6S Pro is broadly similar to the device that Nubia released at the beginning of this year, but the manufacturer promises higher speeds and better cooling. The 6.8″ OLED screen still has a refresh rate of 165Hz, but the touch sampling rate for use with more than one finger is now 720Hz. That was 360Hz with the RedMagic 6 Pro. That device went up to 500Hz with one finger. touch sampling rate determines how many times per second a screen can process input from a finger, a higher value should allow for a faster response.

Like its predecessor, the RedMagic 6S Pro is an Android smartphone focused on gaming. When holding the phone horizontally, users will find a capacitive shoulder button with a touch sampling rate of 450Hz on either side of the top. The 6S Pro has a third button on the back; it was not on the regular 6 Pro.

According to Nubia, the RedMagic 6S Pro is also somewhat faster than the first model. That’s due to the use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888+ and an improved cooling system. Like its predecessor, the 6S Pro has a built-in fan. The phone has a 5050mAh battery, USB-C connection and 3.5mm jack. The device runs on RedMagic OS 4.0, which is based on Android 11. From September 27, Nubia delivers the device in three versions, of 599, 699 and 729 euros. The most expensive version has a transparent housing.
