The makers of the Raspberry Pi think that production of the mini computer could return to a million per month from this summer. CEO Eben Upton says that increasing quantities of the Raspberry Pi can be supplied.

Upton writes in a newsletter that the component shortages are largely ‘behind us’. The CEO of Raspberry Pi Ltd., the company that makes the minicomputers of the same name, says that he believes 2023 will be “the best year ever for sales of Raspberry Pi computers and modules.”

According to Upton, 2023 has not been a good year for the company so far. In the first quarter of the year, Raspberry Pi Ltd. a total of 800,000 devices. That would be the lowest number since 2015. On the other hand, production is now starting up considerably. In May, the company already shipped 600,000 components. This is expected to rise to 800,000 in June. From July, Upton expects to sell one million devices per month. In any case, this would happen for as long as it takes to send customers devices that they have previously purchased.

The growth is mainly because it is easier to purchase new silicon products, says Upton. In addition, Sony would be willing to supply non-silicon parts. That would end “the painful two years since the shortages started,” Upton says.
