The possible details of the GeForce GTX 880 have surfaced online. It appears to be a video card based on the GM204 GPU, which is based on the Maxwell architecture. It is probably a card for the mainstream.

The GM204 will be produced at 20nm and will consist of 7.9 billion transistors, where the GK110 for example has 7.1 billion. According to Z. Obermaier, also known as OBR, who more often releases information about GPUs early, the GPU has 3200 shader and 200 texture units, for a total of 25 SMMs. In comparison, the Maxwell-based GM107, for the GT 750 and 750 Ti boarding passes, has 5 SMMs.

The clock speed of the GTX 880 would be 900MHz with a boost to 950MHz. The single-precision computing power would be 5.7 teraflops, which is higher than the GeForce 780 Ti, for example, with its 4.8 tflops. Thanks to the efficient Maxwell architecture, the tdp at 230W would be lower than the 250W of the 780 Ti. However, the memory interface is 256 bits wide, less than the 384 bit interface of the last generation of high-end cards from Nvidia. Together with the naming, it can therefore be assumed that it is a mainstream card.
