Philips has announced two portable speakers at the IFA that are compatible with Spotify Connect. The SW700M and SW750M also support multi-room functionality for simultaneously playing music in multiple rooms.

According to Philips, its multiroom speakers can automatically ‘take over’ an already playing song on, for example, a smartphone by pressing a button on the devices. A second Philips speaker can then be connected to the first speaker in another room, so that the same Spotify music stream can be heard in several rooms. The connection can also be made from the Spotify app, while Philips provides its own app to manage various settings of the audio systems.

Philips, which uses network technology from the company Frontier Silicon, has announced two versions of its Spotify Connect-tailored speakers. The SW700M has two 2.5″ drivers and two bass ports. Philips quotes a suggested retail price of 99 euros for this model. The larger SW750M contains two 3″ drivers and two tweeters. This version should fetch 149 euros. The systems, which will be available in stores from October, are mutually compatible.
