PayPal offers money-back when purchasing digital goods
PayPal is extending its purchase protection to digital goods. As of July 1, not only physical goods but also goods and services such as digital music, e-books, downloadable content such as games and airline tickets are covered.
PayPal announced this on Wednesday. Currently, digital licenses or files, services, services and airline tickets are not yet covered by purchase protection. Purchase protection comes into effect if a digital product is ‘significantly different’ from how it was described or if it was not delivered. In those cases, the payment company will refund the amount to the PayPal account.
Real estate, custom-made goods, vehicles or private transactions between persons remain outside the purchase protection.
PayPal will split from parent company eBay this year and become an independent, publicly traded company. The company has been working for some time to add as many payment options as possible to its portfolio, including through Braintree, which was acquired in 2013.
