Payday 3 gets first gameplay trailer and release date

Starbreeze has shown the first gameplay footage of Payday 3. This first-person shooter is once again about robbing banks. The game also received a concrete release date with the trailer; Payday 3 releases September 21 for PCs, PS5 and Xbox Series X and S.

The Payday 3 trailer begins with a group of criminals planning a bank robbery, followed by footage of the robbery being carried out. The video then shows fights with police, hostage situations, and escape attempts. Developer Starbreeze writes in a press release that the game will have new skills, weapons and gadgets. The Payday 3 storyline will gradually be expanded with new content and challenges added after release.

Starbreeze has been talking about Payday 3 since 2016, but has shared few concrete details about the game until now. The studio has run into financial problems in recent years, although these have now been resolved. Starbreeze said a few years ago that the game would be released in 2023 after it struck a distribution deal with publisher Koch Media. The studio recently said again that the game will be released this year and also promised to show gameplay footage this summer.
